Doctor Christina East at Riverside Animal Hospital North

Dr. Christina East

Between spending summers running wild in Jamaica and her childhood in Florida, Dr. East has always had animals in her life (whether her family wanted her to or not!). With the ultimate goal of being a veterinarian she worked in several hospitals with small animals (cats, dogs) as well as with exotics (birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, etc.).

Her undergraduate degree was obtained at the University of Miami and she went on to study veterinary care at the University of Florida. After spending most of her life in Florida, the idea of seasons became attractive and she moved to NYC to perform an internship at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists. Since then she has found her home away from home (which is full of cats!) at Riverside Animal Hospitals.

Doctor Phillip Freedman Riverside Animal Hospital North

Dr. Catherine Stevenson

Dr. Catherine Stevenson grew up in Dover, Massachusetts. She decided to be a veterinarian upon completing high school, because it combined her two greatest passions--animals and science! She started out volunteering as an assistant with a small animal cardiologist, prior to completing her pre-veterinary studies in Boston. She obtained VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After four years in Philadelphia, she moved to California to complete a one-year rotating internship at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists, dividing her time between the emergency and specialty services. Currently, she lives in New York with her husband, George, and her two mischievous black and white cats, Michu and Mina. She has been an avid runner since high school; she also enjoys exploring NYC, photography, music, traveling and being outdoors as much as possible.

Dr. Maria Zayas

Dr. Zayas graduated from St. George's University Veterinary Medical School in 2004. Since then she has traveled the country and treated many patients from the biggest (male grizzly bear) to the smallest (baby mouse) and everything in between. Her favorite thing to do is ( snip and stitch) soft tissue surgery. Other interest include, dentistry, geriatric care, and cat wrestling. If you have a burning medical question, don't hesitate to ask her. If she doesn't know the answer, she will find out for you. Dr. Zayas loves learning new information and skills and will attend Continuing Education classes whenever the opportunity arises. Her favorite drink is coffee and favorite food is dark chocolate sea salt caramel. On days off you can find her doing anything or nothing with her furbabies, Boo, PITA and Birdie (the cat).
